How to Use Chat in Daysync

Message your tour team, link schedule items, share files and pin key info.

Every tour in Daysync has its own Tour Chat. It keeps conversations next to the schedule they're about, so instead of re-explaining "which soundcheck?" in a group text, you can drop the actual schedule item into your message.

Chat belongs to the tour you have open. Switch tours and you'll see that tour's channels and messages.

Open Tour Chat

  1. Open the tour from the tour switcher at the top of the left sidebar.

  2. In the sidebar, click Tour Chat.

The chat panel opens over the schedule. Your conversations are listed on the left:

  • Favorites: any channels or messages you've starred.

  • Channels: group conversations. Every tour starts with #general, and everyone on the tour is added to it automatically.

  • Direct messages: one-to-one conversations with people on the tour.

Click the X at the top of the sidebar to close chat and get back to your schedule.

Send a message

  1. Click a channel or direct message in the list.

  2. Type in the message box at the bottom.

  3. Press Enter or click Send.

The formatting bar above the message box gives you Bold, Italic, Underline, Strikethrough, Insert link, Bulleted list and Numbered list. Click Aa (Hide formatting) to tuck the bar away.

Link a schedule item in a message

This is the quickest way to stop "which one?" questions.

  1. In the message box, type @@.

  2. Start typing the item's name, for example Sound.

  3. Pick the item from the Items list. Each result shows its time, location and date.

Typing @@ brings up the Items list

The item drops into your message as a chip showing its name, time and date. Finish your message and send it.

Mention a person

Type @ (or click Mention someone below the message box) and choose a name from the People list.

React, reply, pin and edit

Hover over any message to show its actions:

  • Add reaction: add an emoji. Great for "seen it" without adding another message.

  • Reply in thread: start a side conversation (see below).

  • Pin message: keep it handy in the Pins tab.

  • Edit message: change something you sent.

  • Delete (red trash icon): remove a message you sent.

  • More options: Copy the text, or Quote Reply to reply with the original shown above yours.

Message actions appear when you hover

Reply in a thread

  1. Hover over the message and click Reply in thread.

  2. Type your reply in the thread panel on the right and press Enter.

The reply count appears under the original message, so the main channel stays tidy. Tick Also send to #channel if your reply should show in the main conversation too.

Pin a message

Hover over the message and click Pin message. You'll see Message pinned. and a Pinned by you label on the message. Pinned messages are collected in the channel's Pins tab, which is perfect for load-in times, Wi-Fi details or a key contact number.

Share files, photos and voice notes

  • Files and photos: click + (Add attachment) below the message box, choose one or more files, add a message if you like, and send. Images preview right in the conversation.

  • Emoji: click the smiley face (Add emoji).

  • Voice message: click the microphone (Record voice message). Your browser will ask for microphone access the first time.

Every file shared in a conversation is collected in its Attachments tab, with who shared it and when.

Search a conversation

Click the magnifying glass (Search chat) at the top right of a conversation. Results are split into Messages and Files.

Search looks inside the conversation you have open. To find something in another channel, open that channel first and search there.

To find a conversation itself, use the magnifying glass next to Tour Chat at the top of the conversation list.

Create a channel

Tour admins can create channels for different groups, like crew, production or merch.

  1. Click New channel under Channels, or click the compose button next to Tour Chat and choose Channel.

  2. Enter a Channel name (up to 80 characters). You can also add a Description (up to 100 characters) and a photo.

  3. Turn on Private Channel if it should only be joined or viewed by invitation.

  4. Click Create Channel.

Click New message under Direct messages, or click the compose button next to Tour Chat and choose Message, then pick who you want to talk to.

Channel options

Click the three dots at the top right of a channel to:

  • Mark as unread

  • Add to favorites

  • View members

  • Edit channel (name, description, photo)

  • Hide conversation

  • Delete channel

Some options only appear for tour admins.

Tips

  • The compose menu next to Tour Chat shows keyboard shortcuts for a new Message (⌘ M) and a new Channel (⌘ C).

  • Pin the important stuff. It's much easier to find in Pins than by scrolling.

  • Use @@ whenever a message is about a specific schedule item. Anyone reading can see exactly which item, time and day you mean.
